Composition

Drosinal contains combination of various food ingredients. It does not contain either pesticides or pheromones.

General information

Drosinal is a product designed to monitor the presence of the spotted wing drosophila (SWD) at plantations of soft fruits. It is a kit consisting of a trap and a liquid attractant.

The luring liquid is a combination of various food ingredients that are very attractive to SWD. In addition, the shape and colours of the trap enhance the product effectiveness in attracting Drosophila suzukii.

Successful monitoring

The mesh in entry holes ensures partial selectivity of the trap – insects larger than Drosophila are not caught.

A characteristic feature of the liquid is its very low surface tension. Once insects touch the liquid they drown immediately, unable to fly away.

The trap has a very solid structure. It will last several seasons.

Monitoring Procedure

Drosinal is intended for use in places of the SWD potential habitation, e.g. at berry plantations, cherry orchards, vineyards and surrounding areas.

  1. Begin monitoring about one month before fruit ripening.
  2. Traps should be placed in plantations and orchards, as well as in neighbouring areas, in shaded spots.
  3. Place the traps at the level of fructification of berry bushes, at a height of approx. 1.5 metres in orchards, and directly above the plants in strawberry fields.
  4. For optimal population monitoring, use at least 2–3 traps per ha.
  5. Traps should be checked every 3–4 days. If necessary, the attractant liquid should be refilled to ensure that the trap is always filled up to about 1/3 of its volume.
